Our approach

A living financial plan for changing decisions.

The work begins with mutual fit, becomes a clear financial plan, and continues through implementation, regular progress meetings, and a shared mind map that stays current.

Stage 01

Introductory meeting

We identify your goals, priorities, preferences, questions, and potential obstacles. Together, we establish expectations and decide whether an ongoing partnership makes sense.

Stage 02

Fact finding

We gather the information needed to begin building your financial plan, including your accounts, employer stock and equity compensation, benefits, cash flow, risks, tax considerations, and family priorities. We also create a mind map for your financial life—a living document we update after every client meeting and share with you.

Stage 03

Financial plan and recommendation meeting

We present the initial version of your financial plan and organize the most important decisions—retirement income, investments, employer stock, risk management, insurance, estate coordination, and next actions—into a clear order of priority.

Stage 04

Ongoing progress report meetings

During the first year, we generally meet quarterly as we prioritize completing the initial financial plan, implement agreed actions, and address missing information. After that, most clients meet with us semiannually, with additional conversations when important decisions arise. After every meeting, we update the living mind map and share the current version with you.

A shared living document

Your financial life, organized visually.

The mind map gives you and the Eight Oaks team a common view of the people, accounts, decisions, deadlines, and goals that shape your plan. It is updated after every meeting and shared with you.

Wealth management, defined

How Eight Oaks coordinates the whole picture.

Wealth management is broader than portfolio management. Three connected areas support the plan.

Financial planning

Financial plan development, retirement cash-flow projections, employer stock, tax-aware decisions, risk and insurance planning, charitable giving, and major transitions.

Investment management

Portfolio review, concentration risk, asset allocation, performance context, income needs, and attention to the impact of costs and taxes.

Team and professional coordination

Shared advisory-team context plus coordination with your chosen CPA, attorney, insurance professionals, and other specialists when appropriate.

How fees work

A tiered approach, explained before engagement.

Most Eight Oaks clients work with the firm on a fee basis. The advisory rate is tiered, so the percentage billed decreases as managed assets increase.

Before you engage the firm, the applicable rate, included services, and other potential costs are reviewed with you.
